Plot 175 William Loader

 William was the youngest son of George Loader and Sarah née Tomlin. He was born on 30th June 1846 and baptised at St Peter’s on 26th July that year. The family lived in Castle Street, Berkhamsted and his father George worked as a cordwainer (boot and shoe maker).

 William had three older siblings. His sister Sarah was born on 22nd Sept 1831 and baptised at St Peter’s Berkhamsted on 16th October that year. His brother George was born on 28th June 1839 and baptised at St Peter’s on 21st July 1839 while his brother John was born on 7th July 1842 and baptised at St Peter’s on 31st July that year.

 Unfortunately William died aged 4 on 6th January 1851. He and his parents are all buried in this plot. William’s age is recorded as 5 on the headstone, though he was actually in his fifth year.

 His three siblings, who all survived into adulthood, are also buried in this cemetery. Sarah (later Gash) and her husband John in Plot 398, George and his wife Isabella in plot 403 and John in Plot 16.
