William Mashford
1850 –1913

Unmarked grave William Mashford (1850-1913)

William was born in 1850 in Stanbridge, Bedfordshire to William and Ann (née Adams) Mashford.

In 1861, aged 11, he was already working as an agricultural labourer.

William married Anne Stimpson in 1867 and in 1871 they lived in Tilsworth Road, Stanbridge. He was employed as an agricultural labourer.

Charles was born 1870/71, followed by  George (1871), John (1873), Harry (1875), Fred (1877) and Rebecca (1881).

By 1881 William was working  as a sawyer and the family lived in Leighton Road, Stanbridge.

The family was completed with Arthur (1885) and Sarah Ann (1887), born in Stanbridge.

By 1891 the family had moved to 7, Gravel Path and William was employed as a pit sawyer, an extremely physical job.

They were still at that address in 1901, but by 1911 William and Ann were living at 27, Castle Street with son Fred and daughter Sarah Ann. William was then working as a jobbing gardener.

William died at 27, Castle Street in April 1913 aged 63

Sons Fred and John are also buried in this cemetery, as is Sarah Ann, the widow of his son George.
