William Noah

Unmarked grave William Noah (1845-1914)
William was born in 1845 in Chesham to Joseph and Elizabeth (née Scott) Noah. His father was an agricultural labourer and by the time he was sixteen William had followed in his footsteps.
He married Hannah Puddephatt in 1863. They settled in Berkhamsted at Canal Side by 1871 where they were to have fourteen children, of whom ten survived until 1911, including Frederick (1863), George (1866), Elizabeth (1869), Alice (1871), Joseph (1873), Mary (1875), Jane (1877), Rosa (1879), William (1880), Caroline (1884), Arthur (1887) and James (1888).
In 1911 the couple were living at 36, Castle Street. William was a roadman for the County Council and just one son, James, was left at home.
Hannah died in March 1914 aged 68. William died just days later at 36, Castle Street aged 69
Their son George and his brother Joseph are also buried in this cemetery.
