Frederick was born in Berkhamsted on 17th November 1889 to Henry and Jane Lee. He is recorded in the 1901 census as living at 81 High Street Berkhamsted.
There were 6 siblings at home: Annie (23), Frank (18), Harvey H (15), Violet M (9), Edith, Elma Rosa (6), Victoria Lily (3). His father Henry is recorded as a Mineral Water Manufacturer.
On the 1911 census Frederick is living with his parents Henry and Jane, sisters Edith Alma Rose, Violet May and Victoria Lily. Henry and Frederick are both working as Mineral Water Manufacturers. They have moved from the High Street and are living in Neptune Cottage, Cross Oak Road, Berkhamsted.
On the 4th September 1912 Frederick married Millicent Vercoe. Millicent was born in Berkhamsted in 1891. They had three sons, all born in Berkhamsted: Harold Raymond Henry (1913), Frederick Harold (1915) and Arthur (1917).
His wife Millicent died at the young age of 27 on the 30th November 1918, leaving him with a young family and it wasn’t long before he married again.
Jane, Frederick’s mother died in 1928. Henry, Frederick’s father Henry died on the 27th July 1931. He was living in Berkhamsted at St Ives, Charles Street until his death. His estate was valued at over £14,600, probate was granted to Harvey Hubert Lee, manufacturer and Victoria Lily Lee, spinster. Harvey and Victoria were Frederick’s brother and sister.
Frederick married again, in the spring of 1920, this time to Dorothy CM Barratt.The 1939 register shows:
Frederick H Lee, born 17th November 1889: Occupation Mineral Water Man; Dorothy C M Lee, born 3rd May 1894: Occupation unpaid domestic duties; Frederick H Lee, born 12th February 1915: Occupation Under manager retail grocery. His second wife, Dorothy, died in October 1962.
Frederick died in 1964 at hospital in Hemel Hempstead. He lived in Berkhamsted at 12 Kings Road until his admission. His estate was valued at over £13,100. Probate was granted to Harold Raymond Henry Lee, bank officer and Frederick Harold Lee, pyrotechnist – both sons from his first marriage.
Frederick died, at the age of 74 and joined his first wife Millicent who had died 46 years earlier.
