Reginald William Kent was born in 1901/1902 in Berkhamsted to Maria Charlotte Fenn aged 29 and George Kent aged 32. He was one of five children.
His father George was working as a grocer’s assistant in Tring. He then moved to Berkhamsted where he was a confectioner’s assistant.
In the 1911 census Reginald was 9 and living at 3 Chesham Road, Berkhamsted with his mother Maria (age 41), his brothers Sidney and Arthur and his sisters Hilda and Lilian. By then his mother was a widow and working as a dressmaker, her husband George having died aged 39.
William himself died in 1923 and is buried with his sister Lilian Osborne, nee Kent.

Lilian Ellen Kent was born in July 1899 in Berkhamsted to Maria Charlotte Fenn aged 29 and George Kent aged 32.
She had 5 brothers and sisters, one of whom was Reginald William Kent who is buried with her in Rectory Lane Cemetery.
When she was born her father George was working as a grocer’s assistant in Tring. He then moved to Berkhamsted where he was a confectioner’s assistant. He died when he was only 39. He was living in Aldbury at the time but is buried in Berkhamsted.
Lilian married her cousin James Thomas Osborn on 30 May 1925. She was only married for 6 years when she died, before having any children. The Osborns were a large and important family in Northchurch and Berkhamsted. James Osborn’s grandfather was a carpenter in London, his grandmother was a ‘Timson’ – a large family from Berkhamsted and Northchurch. Timsons were butchers who then passed on their businesses to the Osborns who ran it in the High St, where the Oxfam book shop is now.
Her husband married again and had a son and they lived in Home Farm Berkhamsted.
