Due to John Waller being very young when he passed, there is very little information to share other than the dates of his birth and death. Therefore, looking at the family history regarding John’s parents and other siblings might provide some insight.
Edward Charles Waller and Dorothy Sybil Waller, née Nash, lived in Berkhamsted, Herts, where they had 4 babies born to them from 1916-1928.
According to the 1911 census, Dorothy Sybil Nash lived at 5 Castle Street, Berkhamsted, Herts. Her father, John Nash, was noted as head of the household, aged 48 and working as a gymnastic instructor within a school. He was born in Limerick, Ireland. Dorothy’s mother, Winifred Nash, aged 46, was born in Bombay, India.
Dorothy, aged 20, worked as a machinist at the Mantle Factory in Lower Kings Road, Berkhamsted, alongside her younger sisters Agnes Nash, aged 17, and Ellen Winifred, aged 15. Agnes was born in Folkestone, Kent and Ellen in India. John Alfred was the 4th sibling and born in India, noted as aged 10 and attending school.

In 1922, John E Waller was the second son born to Edward and Dorothy in Berkhamsted. Sadly, baby John passed away aged only 1, in 1923 in Berkhamsted. The cause of his premature death may have been Diphtheria, as many infants at that time died after contracting the illness.
Edward and Dorothy’s 3rd child, Robert Charles Waller, was born 25th February 1925, in Twickenham, Middlesex. Robert Charles Waller went on to work as a printer’s apprentice. He married Patricia E Grout in July 1957 in Watford and had 1 daughter, Susan J Waller. Robert lived until he was aged 50 and died in 1975.
By 1928, Mary Margaret Waller was born, she was Edward and Dorothy’s 4th and last child. The infant mortality rate was high during this period and unfortunately, this family had to grieve for 2 infants, as Mary Margaret was the 2nd child to pass away, having lived less than 1 year. Mary was buried in Rectory Lane Cemetery with her brother John E Waller in a separate plot.
By 1939, Edward was working as a warehouseman. His wife Dorothy Sybil was an unpaid domestic living at 6 Holly Drive, Berkhamsted.
