Lloyds Bank
The Berkhamsted branch of Lloyds Bank is an early/mid 19th century building with a handsome neoclassical portico over the front door, supported by fluted Greek Ionic columns.
Before this building was erected, a house stood on this site that was once home to Doctor Richard Hailey Hall Steel (1767 – 1856), one of the first surgeons at the Hemel Hempstead Infirmary. Dr. Steel served in Ireland as a surgeon during the Rebellion of 1798.
