Cemetery access during October
We have recently completed the capital works, a key milestone in the three-year transformation programme of Rectory Lane Cemetery.
There are some areas of soft landscaping which have been topsoiled and grass-seeded. We want to give these areas the opportunity to get properly established, so to let the grass grow, Rectory Lane Cemetery is temporarily closed to the public.
When will the Cemetery be open?
We hope to open the Cemetery fully on 1st November.
Can I visit a family grave?
Yes, you are very welcome to visit. If you wish to visit a family grave, please contact us to arrange a suitable time and a volunteer will let you in.
Contact Kate Campbell, the Community Engagement Officer on 07866 024254.
Can I have a look around?
During October we are offering small group tours guided by a volunteer.
In line with current COVID-19 rules, each tour is permitted to have five visitors plus one guide. You will need to book yourself a place on these tours as we obviously need to restrict numbers and know who to expect. To book a place on one of our October tours follow this link to Eventbrite, choose your date and register.
The tours are free, but we always welcome donations.
We also want to invite representatives of community groups to explore the Cemetery and how it could be used and contributed to by their members – do get in touch if you would like to schedule such a visit.
