Heritage Open Day tours – fully booked!
The first guided tours around the transformed cemetery are now all full – we expect to be providing further tours in October.
We’re going to be opening the magnificently restored gates of the Cemetery during Heritage Open Day week (11 – 20 September) for the first time, for small group tours.
Participants will walk along the accessible paths and try the dramatic new seating, experience the sculpted Garden of Remembrance, see the Sextons Hut fully restored, take in the new views and visit the wildlife area. They will learn about the seven-year journey which transformed the Cemetery from ‘a dead space to a living place‘ through the work of a passionate and dedicated group of volunteers, expert contractors and the vital support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
James Moir, the Project Manager and Kate Campbell, the Community Engagement Officer will be leading the five 1.5 hour guided tours, all starting at 14.00 on Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th, Wednesday 16th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September.
Booking is now closed for these tours to keep the group size within acceptable limits. Please check back for October dates.
