The Queen's Green Canopy
We are delighted to announce that two new trees that have been planted in Rectory Lane Cemetery have been approved by the Queen’s Green Canopy.

As part of our long-term project to manage the trees in the Rectory Lane Cemetery, our volunteer tree expert has planted two new trees:
- Left: in the lower cemetery, a Wild Service Tree (Sorbus Tominalis); this will eventually take over from the nearby Quercus Oak which has suffered so much squirrel damage.
- Right: in the upper cemetery, a Tulip Tree (Liriodendron Tulipifera).
The Queen’s Green Canopy was created to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, creating a living legacy with over a million trees planted in Her Majesty’s name across the nation. These trees will serve as a lasting tribute to Her Majesty’s extraordinary service to her country and her people, creating a greener UK and benefitting future generations.
We are proud that the Rectory Lane planting has been added to The Queen’s Green Canopy online map:
“Thank you for your contribution to this special initiative, which we hope will inspire countless others. With your support we are creating a greener UK and a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the nation, which will benefit future generations.”
