MARGARET COOK; 1820 – 1911
Margaret was born 24th March 1820, one six children born to and George Cook and Margaret Cook (née Hill), including her sister Sarah, also buried in Rectory Lane Cemetery, was born two years later in 1822. Margaret was christened 11th June 1820.
Margaret’s father was a miller and farmer living in Water Lane. By 1851 her father George had died and the family were living in Ravens Lane. They didn’t work and lived off rental income from their properties. Margaret, like Sarah, remained spinsters, even though Sarah was the younger sister she died 14 December 1887. Margaret had taken in her niece Flora Jane and she and her niece remained in 28 Ravens Lane until Margaret died at the age of 91 on 23rd July 1911.
