Agnes was born in 1859 in Carlton Colville, Suffolk to Susan (née Francis) and James Buggs, an agricultural labourer. She had an older brother and an older half-sister, her mother’s child.

Her father died in 1864 and in 1871 she was living with her aunt and uncle in the village. Her mother married again to Edward Baldry, an agricultural labourer, and in 1881 Agnes and her brother Francis were living with them in Rushmere, Mutford near Carlton Colville. Like many daughters of labouring families, Agnes was a domestic servant.

Between at least April 1911 and June 1921 they lived at 2, Orchard Terrace, Lowestoft.

It has not been possible to trace what happened to William, nor when Agnes moved to Berkhamsted.

She died at 58, High Street in April 1942, aged 82.
