Unmarked grave Ann Webb (1817-1900)

Ann was born in about 1817 in Little Tring.

She married canal labourer James Webb who was born in Staffordshire.

In 1861 they lived in  Little Tring Back Lane in Tring and Ann was working on “plain needlework”. In 1871 they lived at Cooks Wharf, Marsworth. By the 1881 census James had died and Ann remained at the Wharf, earning some money as a straw plaiter from the Luton and Dunstable hat industry.

On 5 April 1891 Ann lived near the White Lion in Marsworth and was entertaining a canal boatman as a visitor.

Ann died in Berkhamsted’s Union Workhouse in February 1900 aged 83.
