Plot 774 Arthur Pearce (1863-1920) 

Arthur was born 27 March 1863 in Berkhamsted to Joseph and Mary Ann (née Cave) Pearce. His father was a sawyer.

In 1881 the family’s address was given as the Rose and Crown, High Street, although Joseph was still a sawyer and not yet the landlord, as he was to become later. Arthur was a clerk.

He married Louisa Farn in Northchurch in 1890 and in 1900 Sidney was born.

In 1901 they lived at 111, High Street and Arthur was a brewer’s clerk

By 1911 they had moved to 15 Chapel Street where they both lived for the rest of their lives.

Arthur died 15 May 1920, aged 57. He left £1898 (almost £72,000 in 2024.)

Louisa died in 1938 and is buried here and Arthur’s parents and brother Archie are buried in plot 217.
