Clifford was born 2 August 1915 in Berkhamsted to (William) George and Minnie Eleanor (née Catlin) Moore.

In 1921 Clifford and his brother Derrick were living with their parents at 11, Kitsbury Road. His father was an insurance agent and collector for the Prudential.

Clifford married Georgina Brown in Berkhamsted in 1936. The couple moved to Welwyn Garden City where they lived at 159, Peartree Lane. Clifford was an assistant in a newsagent’s and Georgina was a café waitress.

Clifford joined the Military Police as a private and was killed in Italy, 9 February 1945. He is buried in the Argenta Gap War Cemetery, about 60km NE of Bologna.

He is commemorated here at the grave of his grandfather Reuben William T Moore.

Georgina remarried in 1950 to Richard H Barrett.
