Unmarked grave Daniel Costin (1812-1855)

Daniel was born in Berkhamsted on 24 January 1812, the son of William, an agricultural labourer and Jemima (née Ellingham) who had married in Edlesborough. He was baptised 15 March in St Peter’s.

Daniel married Elizabeth Ellingham – perhaps a relative of his mother’s – at St Albans in St Michael’s, St Albans 6 October 1834. They were to have three sons and a daughter and the 1851 census records the family living on Berkhamsted Common close to Daniel’s parents. He was a dealer in wool.

Daniel died in Dec 1855 aged only 43, predeceasing both his parents who are buried here in plot x248
