Elizabeth was born 24 January 1860, in Whitlesey, Cambs, the first child of Annie and John W Ingle. Her father was an innkeeper and miller.
In 1871 the family lived at Gracious Street, Whittlesey. Elizabeth had three younger brothers and four younger sisters.
Ten years later the family were at the same address and John was a licenced victualler and farmer of 28 acres, employing one labourer and two women.
4 September 1884 Elizabeth married Henry Stainsby, a teacher of the deaf, in Whittlesey. Henry was employed in Birmingham where they spent most of their married life and he was to become a very significant figure in the development of the training and welfare of people with hearing impairments.
They had four children, all born in Birmingham: Herbert Henry (1885-1962) who was ordained into the Church of England; Edith Annie (1886-1975); Frank Ingle (1887-1975) and Arthur (1890-1969).
By autumn 1924 Henry, Elizabeth and Frank had moved to 3, North Road, Berkhamsted where Henry died 22 December 1925 aged 66.
Elizabeth died 1 September 1939 at Walcot, The Drive, East Barnet and was laid to rest here with Henry.
