Frank Charles Davis

Unmarked grave Frank Charles Davis (1884-1937)
Frank was born in 1884 and baptised at St Peter’s, 4 January the next year. His parents were George William Davis, a brewer’s labourer, and Ann Maria (née London).
When Frank was six the family were living in Thompson’s Row, Holliday Street. He had two brothers, one older, one younger, and three sisters, one younger than himself. The family was still there ten years later. Frank was described in the census as “packer/labeller” As his immediately older and younger brothers were both bakers it is possible he also worked at the bakery.
He married Rachel Brandon in early 1910 in Amersham and by April 1911 they were living at 4, Middle Row, Berkhamsted where Frank remained for the rest of his life. He was working in “chemical manufacturing”, probably for Coopers’.
Their son Stanley was born in 1912 and William Horace in 1914.
In the 1921 census Frank was described as a “Sheep dip powder millman” working for Cooper’s in Raven’s Lane. Rachel was a charwoman.
Frank died 23 June 1937 aged 53 at 4, Middle Road, Berkhamsted.
