Biography:
Frederick Holliman
Frederick Holliman

Unmarked grave Frederick William Holliman (1866-1899)
Frederick was born in Kentish Town, London in 1866 to Ellen (née Green) and Frederick Holliman, a groom and later cabman.
The dynamics of his parents’ marriage are hard to decipher. All three of their sons were born in London but were baptised in Berkhamsted and Ellen was living in Berkhamsted with her parents and sons while still recorded on the census as married.
Frederick was baptised Berkhamsted 4 March 1866 although his paretns’s residence was shown as London.
In 1871 Ellen and sons Frederick, Charles (born Notting Hill) and Henry (born Kentish Town) were living in the same house as her parents in Castle Street. She was working as a charwoman.
Frederick’s father died before April 1881 when the census shows him living with his widowed mother and brothers. At this time he was a labourer in the chemical works, probably Cooper’s but the 1891 census records living alone in Castle Street and employed as a carpenter.
He married Sarah Keen in Tring parish church 13 March 1895. Their son Charles was born shortly afterwards and Harold George was born in 1897
Tragically for the young family, Frederick died in June 1899 at 40, George Street aged only 33. Sarah remained at that address until at least 1901 when she is recorded in the census as “domestic cook” and with a lodger.
His brother Charles James who died in 1938 is also buried in this cemetery.
