George Barton was born about 1806, although the whereabouts is not known, other than it was not Hertfordshire.
The 1841 census describes him as an attorney at law living in the High Street with his wife Mary and one female servant.
George died 12th November 1848 after what must have been a short illness, as he made his will on the 7th of that month. He left property to his mother Esther Barton and the residue of his estate to his wife.
Both Mary, who died in 1896, and Esther, who died in 1868, are buried here with him.
