George Cook

GEORGE COOK; 1821 – 1872

 George Cook was born in Highworth, Wiltshire in 1821 to George and Mary Cook. He became a general servant he and married Harriet Austin from Ashford in Kent on 2 June 1850 when he was 28. She was several years his junior.

 In 1861 they were lodging in Berkhamsted with Jane Flint on the High Street. George was an ostler and Mary a book binder.

 By 1871 George was in domestic service but Mary had become a dressmaker.

 George died 30 March 1872 and is buried in Rectory Lane.
