George was born 16 July 1819, in Northchurch, to William and Elizabeth Rose. His father was a labourer.
George married Sophia Turrey (or Terry) from Buckland Common 14 May 1849 in Aston Clinton.
Elizabeth was born in 1849 at Buckland Common followed by Jesse (1853), Sarah (1857), Colley [sic. Female] (1858), Lois (1860), Kate (1861), Frederick (1863) and Annie (1868) who were all born in Northchurch.
By 1871 the family lived at River Terrace, Northchurch. George was an agricultural labourer, Sophia and the three oldest girls were straw plaiters and Jesse was a messenger
In 1881 George and Sophia were living with their widowed daughter Elizabeth Holt who was a greengrocer in the High Street. She had three daughters and a baby son. With them were Kate (a nursemaid), Fred (an agricultural labourer) and Annie (in domestic service). George was still working as an agricultural labourer.
George died 21 October 1884 aged 66.
His son Jesse is also buried in this cemetery.
