Harriet Reeve
1833 –1915

Unmarked grave Harriet Reeve (1833-1915)

Harriet was born 1833/4 in West Tofts, Norfolk, to labourer William Reeve and his wife Hannah.

She never married.

In 1851 she was a “house servant” in the household of the banking Harris family in Chesham.

In 1861 was employed as cook at the Bricklayer’s Arms in Strutton Ground, Westminster, a few minutes’ walk west of the Abbey.

By 1891 Harriet was living with her mother in Berkhamsted with two lodgers. No occupation for her is given in the census.

In 1911 she was living alone at 46, High Street, Berkhamsted.

Harriet died 1915 aged 81 and was buried in a parish grave with another woman to whom she was not related.
