Biography:
James Bailey
1807? –26/01/1847

Plot x.178 James Bailey (1807?-1847)

Information about James Bailey is scarce. His burial record gives his age at death as 39, so he may be the James Bailey who was baptised at St Peter’s 29th March 1807, son of John and Mary Bailey.

The 1841 census lists him as “Inn keeper” with an address of “High Street.” As the tithe map shows that a James Bailey had taken over the Red Lion inn by 1839 it is probable that this is the same man and that the enumerator has forgotten to add the name of the inn in the address column.

James was buried 2nd February 1847. His relationship with Mary Ann Bailey, buried with him, and the associated Loader burials, is yet to be established.
