James was born in 1842 in Dagnall, Bucks and married Ann.
Phoebe was born in 1866 in Dagnall, but they had moved to Berkhamsted by the time Harry was born in 1867, followed by Annie (1869) and George (1871).
In 1871 the family lived in Highfield Road and James was a cowman.
James jnr. was born 1873 followed by William (1880) and Walter (1883).
In 1891 James and Ann were living in Norris’s Yard, High Street, Northchurch with James jnr., William and Walter and married daughter Phoebe and her two children. James was a general labourer.
In April 1911 James was a labourer in a nursery and living with Ann and their grandchildren Albert Galsworthy and Mary Wright at 31, Gossoms End. He died in December of that year aged 69.
