Rectory Lane Cemetery, Berkhamsted

The Honourable John Robert Mansfield was the son of Lord and Lady Sandhurst. He was born on 4 September 1882 at Berkhamsted. He survived only a few hours and his death was registered at Berkhamsted. John's father, William Baron Sandhurst was 27 and his mother, Lady Victoria Alexandrina Spencer, was 22. In 1884 Lord and Lady Sandhurst had another child, Elizabeth, who only lived for a few days. She is buried here with John. These were the only children of Lord Sandhurst’s first wife, Lady Victoria. John Robert Mansfield's uncle (and Victoria’s brother), Charles Robert Spencer, was the great-great grandfather of Diana, Princess of Wales.
