Rectory Lane Cemetery, Berkhamsted

John Edward Sparkes was baptised on 20th November 1912 at Enfield, the son of Robert (a fireman) and Mary Ann Sparkes. In 1941 he married Kathleen Rolfe, the daughter of Catherine Rolfe, in Berkhamsted. They had one son, Jeffery, on 25th September 1948. John died on 27th February 1968, aged 55, leaving Kathleen a widow.  At the time they were living at 2 Tennis Court Cottages, Lower Kings Road Berkhamsted. Probate was granted at Oxford on 11 October   £15,691. Kathleen lived on until 2004, dying in Tring at the age of 91. Unusually, John Edward is buried with his mother-in-law in Rectory Lane Cemetery.
