Plot 1107 John Wood (1874-1948)

John was born in Berkhamsted in 1874 to James and Ann (née Timson) Wood. (They are buried in plot 678)

Her father was an iron worker and founder of a significant local business making fencing, wire and other iron products.

By 1891 John had become a lithographic artist and was living with his family at 264, High Street but by 1901 he was a mechanical engineer.

He married Edith Annie Murch in Combeinteignhead, Devon 3 December 1901

In 1921 they were living at “Gwara”, Park View Road, Berkhamsted and he worked as engineer in the family business.

John died 3 August 1948. Edith died in 1950 and is buried here with him.

His sisters Ida and Katherine are buried in plot 479.
