Unmarked grave Katherine Randall (née Beer) (1871-1914)

Katherine was born in 1870 in Aldbury, the third daughter of  Arthur and Hannah (née Meager) Beer. Her father was a journeyman bricklayer and in 1871 they lived at Aldbury Lodge.

By 1881 Arthur had died, Hannah had remarried to Elijah Wilmore in 1872 and again been widowed in 1876. By the time of the census she had become keeper of the Bridgewater Column, a towering monument in Ashridge that commemorates the Canal Duke and which can still be climbed today. Hannah had her three daughters and her son Jesse Wilmore living with her.

The 1891 census reveals Katherine living with her mother in Monument Lodge and both working as seamstresses.

Katherine married carpenter Frederick Randall in 1892 in Berkhamsted.
