Biography:
Louie Green
1888 –1932

Unmarked grave Louie Esther Green (1888-1932)

Louie was born in early 1888 in Berkhamsted to Charles and Mary Green. Her father was a coach-body maker.

In May 1900 Louie, who was attending the National School, was made one of the Bourne Scholars. They would receive a small bursary.

In 1901 the family lived at 27, Kitsbury Road.

Louie never married. By 1911 she had moved all the way to Chester where she was employed by the railway company as a bar assistant in their refreshment rooms in City Road, close to the railway station. It was clearly very busy, with a staff of nine bar assistants, a manageress, a bar steward, a waitress, cook and pantry man.

Her mother died in 1916 and is buried in this cemetery. By 1921 Louie had returned home and was keeping house for her widowed father who was a wheelwright employed at East’s timber yard.

Louie died in November 1932, aged 45, at 27, Kitsbury Road.
