Unmarked grave Margaret Ann Gates (née Fenn) (1878-1911)

Margaret was born in 1878 in Gaddesden Row, the daughter of James Fenn, an agricultural labourer.

In 1891 she was living at 4, Lion Yard, Studham with her father and younger brother and sister. She was working as a straw plaiter.

Ten years later she was a live-in domestic servant in the White Hart hotel in Berkhamsted

Margaret married Walter Ernest Gates, a labourer from High Wycombe in Bedfordshire, in 1903 and a year later their son Walter James was born in Berkhamsted

Twins Kenneth Harry and Cyril Frank were born in May 1907 but died a few days later.

Margaret died at 45, Highfield Road October 1911 aged only 33.
