Unmarked grave Mary Jane Morton (née London) (1865-1922)
Mary was born in 1865 in Northchurch to William, a labourer and Emma (née Johnson) London. She was baptised in St Mary’s in August that year. The family lived in the High Street.
She married William James Morton, a blacksmith, in Berkhamsted in 1887. William jnr. was born in 1888 and Arthur in 1891, both Berkhamsted.
By 1891 they were living in the village street in Walkern, Herts. William was a coach smith
Lucy Jane was born there in 1893 and Ethel May in 1897.
In 1911 the family was living at 39, Green Street, Stevenage. William was a coach builder.
In the June 1921 census Mary was a patient in West Herts hospital. Her occupation was given as domestic servant
Mary died at 14, Highfield Road, Berkhamsted in September 1922 aged 57.
William married again to widow Emily Rogers who died in 1929 and is buried in this cemetery. He died in 1950.
William’s brother James and his wife Minnie are buried in plot 1123.
