ELIZABETH COLLINS: 1832-1906
Elizabeth was born in Hawridge, Buckinghamshire, in 1832 to James Collins, a labourer, and Peggy Ann Taylor Batchelor, both age 41years. Elizabeth had three sisters, Margret, Catherine and Mary Ann. Elizabeth was the youngest and by 1851 she was living in High Street, Berkhamsted, and was working as a servant. She never married and remained a servant for the rest of her life.
She survived all her family.
In 1871 she was in Boxmoor, Hemel Hempstead, working for brother and sister Thomas and Ann Christopher. In 1891 she was in St John’s Road, Hemel Hempstead, as a servant for a single lady Elizabeth Lee.
In 1901 Elizabeth, then 69, was boarding in a house owned by Margaret She died in March 1906 and was buried with other family members in Rectory Lane Cemetery.
