SARAH RUSHWORTH: 1836 – 1856

Sarah was born in Berkhamsted in1836, the fourth of six children born to baker Thomas Rushworth and his wife Martha.

In 1841 the family were living in the High Street.

Sarah’s father died in 1847 and in 1851 the family were still living in the High Street. Her mother, Martha, was working in the bakery as was her oldest brother Robert.

Sarah died on 18th June 1856 at the age of 20 years. She was living in Brentford when she died. It is possible she had gone into service.

She was buried in Berkhamsted with her father.

Her mother remarried but when she died in 1866, she too was buried in the same grave
