Susanna Bryant 1867-1931 Susanna Bryant was born in 1867, and baptised at St Marys Northchurch on 30th May 1869, with her older sister Sarah, and younger brother William. Sarah died in 1871 at just seven years of age. She was the third of nine children born to George and Jane (nee Saunders). By the age of 13 she was working as a straw plaiter, but in her early 20s moved to Harrow in London, where she worked as a kitchen maid, and shared lodgings with an assortment of other domestic staff from all over the UK. Her mother died in 1897, and Susanna moved back to Berkhamsted to keep house for her father. She never married, and continued to live with her father until his death in 1918. She lived at 52 High Street at the time of her death in 1931, but was visiting 241a High Street when she passed away. She left £317 7s 6d in her will to her widowed sister-in-law Matilda Rosetta Bryant. Susanna was buried with her father.
