Plot 932 William Dixon

William was born in 1866 in Selby, Yorkshire.

He worked as a general labourer and married Lily Huggins. Their daughter Nelly was born in 1888.

In 1901 he was living with his wife’s parents and employed as a labourer in a rope works.

Nelly married Henry Foster Furniss in 1908. He was a letterpress printer and they moved to Berkhamsted in 1910.

It seems that at some point in the late 1920s William moved to Berkhamsted to be near his daughter and grandchildren.

He died September 1935 at home at 14, Swing Gate Lane and was buried 13 September.

His grandson Harry Francis Furniss died in the Army in 1945 and was buried here with him.
