Grave of Nelson Henley, also inscribed with a memorial to Lieut R.D. Spendlove (“Bobbie), South Staffordshire Regt. who died in WWII and is buried in France. The epitaph uses lines from a poem by the Georgian poet Wilfred Wilson Gibson:

Constant memory of our dear boy
Nelson Henley
May 2nd, 1935 aged 18 years
Beautiful flower in gods garden
Also dear Bobbie
Lieut R.D. Spendlove
South Staffordshire Regt.
Killed in action in Normandy
August 8th, 1944, aged 26 years
He’s gone, I do not understand,
I only know that as he turned to go and waved his hand,
in his young eyes a sudden glory shone
and was dazzled with the sunset glow,
and he was gone

Condition: good
