Rectory Lane Cemetery, Berkhamsted

Landscaping work

Rectory Lane Cemetery is landscaped for the first burials, and the Churchwardens’ Accounts for Easter 1843 show that Mapplebecks & Laws charged £9 16s 3d for mowing equipment.

A book of the same year, On the Laying Out, Planting, and Managing of Cemeteries and on the Improvement of Churchyards by J.C Loudon, states that a total of £109 10s 9d was spent on the burial ground.
