Unmarked grave Charles T Mead (1869-1925)
Charles was born in 1869 in Berkhamsted, the son of David and Elizabeth Mead. His father was employed by Cooper’s chemical works.
Charles became an agricultural labourer and married Mary Ann Guest in 1890
The 1891 records High Street “living on own means”, which seems unlikely for a labourer.
Their only child, Bertram Charles, was born in 1891.
In 1901 the family lived at 27, Victoria Road and Charles was an “odd man on farm”.
Mary Ann was an upholsterer and in 1911 Charles described himself as an assistant upholsterer.
In 1917 Bertram joined the Army but was invalided out with stomach problems that year.
In 1921 his job description was “Domestic work and assistant upholsterer.”
He died at 27 Victoria Road in June 1925 aged 56.
His father is also buried in this cemetery as are his wife and son.
