Biography:
Edmond Foskett
1843 –1911
Edmond Foskett
Unmarked grave Edmond Foskett (1843-1911) hurch, the son of Luke Foskett, a carpenter, and his wife Sarah (née Newell). The spelling of his name varies between Edmond and Edmund in the records, and he is incorrectly entered in the burial records as Edward, but in the 1911 census, which he signed, he clearly writes Edmond, so that has been used throughout here.
In 1851 the family were living at Little Heath, Northchurch. Edmond had an elder sister and an elder brother who was a shepherd boy. By 1861 when they were still at Little Heath, both Edmond and his older brother were journeymen carpenters, like their father.
Edmond married Martha Draper in 1874 in Berkhamsted.
In 1881 they were living in Ellesmere Road. Edmond was employed as a carpenter and they had two sons, Frederick (1875) and Francis (Frank) (1877). The family remained at Ellesmere Road where three daughters were born – Florence (1882), Violet (1884) and Priscilla (1888).
By the time of the 1891 census Frederick was working as a wood turner and Francis as an errand boy.
By 1901 Edmond, Martha, Frank (now a carpenter), Violet (working at the mantle factory) and Priscilla were living at 2, Victoria Road.
Edmond died May 1911 aged 68 at 13, Middle Row.
Martha survived him until 1918 and is buried in plot 921. Lily, the wife of their son Frank is also buried in this cemetery
