Elsie was born in 1890 at Orchard End, Northchurch to James and Lizzie (née Garment) Osborn. Her father was a general labourer.
By the time of the 1901 census James was employed as a rural postman and the family – four girls and four boys – lived at 7, Cross Oak Road
Elsie died at 8, Cross Oak Road in January 1909 aged only 18. To make things even worse for the grieving family her brother Frank died in September that year aged 14. He is buried in this cemetery.
