Craftsman 14487798 Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Harry was the second son of Henry Foster and Nellie née Dixon of 9 Curtis Way, Berkhamsted. He worked in the Engineering department of Messrs Cooper, McDougall and Robertson Ltd, Berkhamsted. He joined the army in Sept 1944. He had previously served with the local squadron (no. 1113) of the Air Training Corps but when he was eligible to join the forces the RAF were unable to take on more new recruits so he joined the army instead. He died, aged 18, on 16 April 1945 as a result of a road accident while on service with his unit. Members of the ATC formed a guard of honour at his funeral.
