John Mashford
1873 –1914

Unmarked grave John Mashford (1873-1914)

John was born in 1873, Stanbridge, Bedfordshire, the third son of William and Ann (née Adams) Mashford.

Family moved to Berkhamsted and John worked as a general labourer.

Married Alice Smith in Aylesbury in 1899 and their son Charles Thomas was born that year. In 1901 they lived at 16, New Road, Berkhamsted and John worked as a coach builder’s labourer. Florence was born in 1903.

By 1911 they had moved to 3, Eddy Street and John was still working for the coach builder.

John died at 27, Castle Street, the home of his brother Fred, in April 1914 aged only 42.

His father and brother Fred are also buried in this cemetery, as is Sarah Ann, the widow of his brother George.
