John Parker (868)

Plot 868 John Parker (1865-1920)

John was born in 1865 in Berkhamsted to James and Rebecca Parker. His father was a cooper, born in Bierton, Bucks, his mother was from Aylesbury.

In 1881 the family lived in Victoria Street and John was a lithographer’s apprentice.

He married Sarah Turner Canning in Lambeth in July 1889 and they had three sons:

Ernest John (1891), Albert E G (1893) and Sidney Edgar (1898). Sadly little Sidney died aged only 5 months. He is buried in this cemetery.

By the time Sarah died 23 October 1903 in Camberwell, Surrey, the family were living at 10, Manor Street.

The census of 2 April 1911 records John as a widower living with his mother and son Ernest at 10, Manor Street. He was a litho printer foreman and Ernest was an architect’s assistant.

John married Nellie Pacey in 1911 in Lambeth and Charles C (1912), Freda G (1917) were both born in Berkhamsted.

John died 28 February 1920 at 10, Manor Street aged 55. Nellie survived him until 1960 and is buried here with him.
