Margaret Grover

Unmarked Grave Margaret Grover (1826-1882)

Margaret was born in 1826 and married John Grover, a labourer.

By 1861 when they were living in The Pightle they had three children: Rebecca (1847), Sarah (1859), John (1861).

George was born in 1864 and Emma A in 1867.

By 1871 John was a railway labourer and they were living in Highfield Road. They were still at that address ten years later, by which time John was a general labourer, as was son George who was still at home with his sister Sarah. Both women were straw plaiters, a common occupation for women in labouring families.

Margaret died at Highfield Road in February 1882 aged 56. Her son George, who died in 1913, also lies in this cemetery in an unmarked grave.
