Biography:
Maria Hurst (780)
1847 –01/10/1918

Plot 780 Maria Sarah Hurst (née Richardson)

Maria was born in 1847 in Edmonton to George and Maria Richardson. Her father was a coachman born in Great Marlow, Bucks, her mother was from Norwich.

She was privately baptised at home, 14 November 1847 at Claremont Street, Edmonton, which probably means there were fears she would not survive which would mean she was born that day, or just before.

She was to have two older brothers, an older sister sister and a younger brother and sister. By 1861 they had moved to Whitehall Street, Tottenham where George was a coachman to a gentleman. (ie working for a private household).

Maria married William Thomas Hurst, a house painter from Berkhamsted, in Walthamstow on 26 March 1891when they were both in their forties.

They were not to have any children.

In 1911 the couple were living in London at 7, High Street, Highgate.

They moved back to Berkhamsted to 77, Shrublands Avenue where Maria died 1 October 1918 aged 70. William survived her until 6 June 1926 and is buried with her here.
