James Bunn was a master builder James. In 1913 he married Emily Ada White. They had a son, Maurice Alec Bunn (born 1914) and a daughter, Marjorie Bunn (born 1922). The family lived first at 75 Shrublands Avenue.

James  signed up with the Bedfordshire regiment in November 1914 but within 30 days was discharged as unfit for service. He later joined the Royal Engineers as a sapper and was attached to the 227th Field Company serving on the Western Front. He returned to Britain in 1919.

When Maurice left school, he followed his father’s profession and by 1939 father and son were both listed as Master Builders, by this time the family had moved to 52 Greenway.  Sometime after the outbreak of WW2 Maurice joined the RAF, he became a Pilot Officer. In 1941 he was killed in a crash at RAF Ingham in Lincolnshire.

By this time, Rectory Lane Cemetery was approaching full capacity and James had to petition to the Parochial Church Council of St Peter’s for permission to bury his son here. The application was eventually approved in 1942. Permission was later granted for James, Emily and Marjorie to be buried here with Maurice.

Emma Ada Bunn (née) White married master builder James Bunn in 1913. They had a son, Maurice Alec Bunn (born 1914) and a daughter, Marjorie Bunn (born 1922). The family lived first at 75 Shrublands Avenue.

During WWI her husband served on the Western Front with the Royal Engineers. Sometime after the outbreak of WW2, her son Maurice joined the RAF, he became a Pilot Officer. In 1941 he was killed in a crash at RAF Ingham in Lincolnshire.

By this time, Rectory Lane Cemetery was approaching full capacity, James had to petition to the Parochial Church Council of St Peter’s for special permission for a family plot here.

New burials in Rectory Lane Cemetery were stopped in 1946, but when Emma died in 1979, the family were able to bury her in the existing family grave here, one of the later burials in Rectory Lane Cemetery.

Marjorie Bunn the daughter of James and Emily Ada Bunn. She had an elder brother, Maurice Alec Bunn (born 1914). The family lived first at 75 Shrublands Avenue.
